Our Bunhuggers Thong category winner gets the UA treatment.

As promised, we are bringing you the reviews of the underwear you voted for in our survey starting with a thong that really ticks all the boxes where it comes to style, materials, practicality and sensuality!

There is a huge array of thongs available for men nowadays which is terrific for shoppers looking for something unique and sexy to wear, maybe a nice surprise strip tease for your partner is on your mind? Or perhaps you enjoy the comfort and freedom of wearing thongs as part of your everyday wardrobe and are looking for somethingnew and exciting to slip into.

A lot of men think there is a stigma attached to wearing thongs and it can be quite surprising for them to learn that wearing thongs not only can look great, they can be very comfortable and reduce the appearance of underwear lines beneath your business pants which can look unsightly especially if the pants are snug fitting.

Now I’ve tried a great deal of thongs from the top market brands including Mundo Unico, Calvin Klein, Playboy, Gregg Homme to name but a few, and having a few pairs of N2N underwear and speedo’s I was very interested to try this N2N thong out and see if it was as good as I hoped.

I can tell you I was more impressed with this thong than I thought I would be, not only because it looks great but it has the superb N2N pouch that lifts and holds your genitals so snugly giving you great support and enhancing your profile as only N2N can. This thong could be used as a swim thong or for impressing that special person by spicing things up in the bedroom, and is comfortable enough to wear all day beneath jeans.

Now I mentioned before that I’ve tried many pairs from reputable brands and some of them are very nice and look terrific on, but I can see why this pair topped our results because it feels and looks incredible. I can honestly say the material clings to you like a second skin and really gives that impressive shape to your curves in the rear. It’s low cut in style and has no logo on the front as most N2N styles do. I really love the ice blue color of the material, it shimmers slightly in the light giving this garment a real rock star appeal in terms of it’s terrific design and makes you feel a bit naughty wearing it.

As is normal for N2N there is no lining in the front which I personally prefer, and the high stretch content of the material really does show every line and curve so if you do want to use this for swimming you probably want to keep that in mind (however if you’re confident enough to swim publicly in a thong I doubt that is of much concern.)

The rear strap attached beneath the garment at the base of the pouch, which I wasn’t expecting and you can’t tell this when wearing it. I expect that is due to the construction of the pouch and how it lifts and enhances your profile. So while it is not a seamless thong this does not detract from the visual appeal or the comfort.

It may be a good idea to buy a size larger than you’d normally purchase with this thong, sizing is incredibly important when you buy thongs otherwise you can end up feeling crammed in and the whole experience is ruined. Now obviously this is not going to be to everyone’s liking, and I’ve heard a lot of guys say things about not believing anything that goes between the cheeks of your butt could possibly be comfortable but if you can look past the stigma and test your curiosity you might just be converted. And I’m sure your partner will be thrilled about it too, come on boys it’s time to step up and if you honestly don’t enjoy wearing this thong well that’s cool with me but think about how much more action you might get if you spice things up and give your partner a sexy surprise!

SO In conclusion there is nothing about this thong that I can find to tell you not to buy it. I will say you can buy cheaper thongs and some of them are really great so if you’re budget conscious by all means keep searching but if you want the best you better put your order in for this hot little item. A clear 10 out of 10. All I can say is WOW!

Does Joe Snyder have anything to fear from this brand? You better believe it!

Sometimes it’s unfair to compare brands because it usually shows up the smaller company for being able to source (or afford) the premium materials, have limited resources and marketing budget etc. But every now and then a label pops up that not only stands up to the standard of materials and finish, but also has a wow factor that is sure to see enthusiasts tapping away furiously at their keyboards trying to find a supplier because it truly is that good you know you have to have some.

What is truly surprising about this brand is the fact that it doesn’t have any major affiliations with retailers and online stores given the interest generated by the Skinxwear brand it really puzzles the mind why this designer is still flying under the radar. Originating from Malaysia this company have styles of underwear to suit men of all tastes. Erring on the more risque side of the underwear market with their Intimo Collection, you get the sense that they have developed their collections with a specific market in mind but trust me on this, if you take the plunge and order some underwear from the Intimo collection you will be surprised just how comfortable and practical they truly are! More on the styles later, let’s talk about other options first. If I had to liken their collection to another designer I would have to say that Joe Snyder is the closest in both materials, and overall design. So if you’ve got some JS underwear in your drawer you can appreciate the nature of this label, and the bold sensual masculine frontal enhancement to the pouch is also evident in some of the Skinxwear underwear collections.

You might ask yourself why would you want to open your wallet to buy this brand when you already own some Joe Snyder underwear? Ah well there are some very good reasons to do just that and here they are!

Don’t get me wrong, I have some wonderful pairs of Joe Snyder bikini style briefs and they have been terrific for poolside tanning, swimming and general wear under jeans. They enhance and lift you bringing things forward creating a more impressive profile under jeans and catching everyone’s attention on the beach. But while they impress visually, they lose points where it comes to comfort and that is one factor of buying underwear (whether be it for every day wear or strutting around the resort pool on lazy summer days,) that comfort in non negotiable.

This is one of the clear distinctions between these two brands that becomes apparent from the moment your underwear parcel arrives, they are presented in a box (as you might expect a pair of CK or 2xist underwear to arrive) and then you slide your fingers into the box and you immediately know you’ve bought something special. They market these bad boys on ebay as Superfine Microfiber and this is no understatement, the blend of 95% Superfine Micro 5% Elastane is like silk to the touch only softer! The material has a very high stretch content and slides on like a second skin, hugging your curves the way it should. You can opt for bikini or thong backed underwear in various colors and designs.

I’ve watched this company go from strength to strength over the past few years and they are continually pushing the boundaries of men’s underwear by offering more provocative styles and colors that wont appeal to everyone but what really appeals to everyone? I don’t think there is a universal underwear company or style that everyone would wear without complaint, such is the beauty of diversity! Skinxwear unveiled their 2011 collection at Men’s Fashion Week in Singapore showcasing a line of briefs and boxer briefs influenced by the Scottish Kilt. On a personal note I wasn’t overly impressed with the colors, but I really enjoyed the atmosphere they created with the dark moody music and the models strutting down the catwalk with electric guitars strapped to their backs. But back to the review…

Not only are the materials of the highest quality, the big surprise is the price tag. Yes, you have to pay for international shipping but even with that cost factored into the purchase they are still great value for money. And if you’re looking for something more daring they have some styles available in sheer fabrics that leave nothing to the imagination whatsoever! The intimo bikini brief I bought came in blue with a white waistband, and has two cut out panels at the hip to show even more skin. The front panel is unlined so it is super thin and silky, you could forget you’re wearing anything at all. This aids the moisture wicking and prevents overheating your precious cargo. Not to mention the reaction you’ll receive next time you undress to impress for that special someone. They do offer some underwear in cotton for a more conventional fit and feel, but you may need to search a while to find these styles as you are limited to the number of items on sale at any given time which can change without notice.

Sizing is fairly accurate, but given the high stretch content this probably aids the fit. If you straddle two sizes I would recommend ordering the size up to avoid discomfort (especially when ordering a thong backed garment.)

If you abandoned briefs for boxer shorts due to the uncomfortable heat and feel of heavy thick lined fabrics you may just be converted back when you buy a pair of Skinxwear underwear. If you’re daring enough you might use this as a bathing/suntanning costume however the materials are very revealing so that judgement call is only for the brave to make. They sure look good enough to use for this dual purpose but I wont guarantee you might not get into trouble for indecent exposure once wet!

I really enjoy sourcing the lesser known brands and highlighting the ones that stand out from the competition and while this brand wont appeal to everyone, it certainly holds its own against some of the dominant labels that are on the market in terms of cost, options of materials/colors and long term durability. I would recommend hand washing these garments as they are delicate fabrics and you don’t want lint balls detracting from the appearance of your underwear do you?

So next time you’re in the market looking for something to spice things up in the bedroom or wanting something unique from your current wardrobe consider investing in a little Asian appetizer from Skinxwear. The uplifting briefs and thongs will enhance your profile and your confidence without blowing your budget. You don’t need to be a male stripper to buy something racy from this brand, you just need to indulge your wild side and reward yourself with a little luxury.

The Verdict:

In conclusion, the best way to find out more is to hunt around the internet and ebay is your most likely target. You’ll find some reputable suppliers and a great range of underwear to choose from. If you’ve already bought some of their products drop us a line and let us know your thoughts on the items, we appreciate your feedback.

Rating this one a 9.5 out of 10. The only gripe I could have against Skinxwear is the fact that its not available in more places. So really, if you want something stylish, sexy and sensual against your skin you gotta get into Skinxwear!

Is it really that good or are you paying for the label?

We find out in our side by side review of two reputable brands.

Depending on who you ask you’ll get very different opinions on whether underwear designer labels are really worth handing over your hard earned cash for. One one hand you have the very logical argument that it’s just not worth buying one pair of underwear that nobody see’s so why pay five times what you could spend for a generic twin pack of plain briefs?

That is a fair question and there’s no question you do get the exact same coverage from a five dollar pair of underwear that you do from a fifty dollar pair of designer briefs. Generally you don’t wander around your local shopping center in your underwear (unless you fancy being locked up I wouldn’t recommend it either). So why is it becoming more popular among men to buy these more luxurious brands? Is it about status? Or is there more to these brands than the label on the waistband?

We’ve all seen the major fashion houses trying to outdo each other by trying to get the biggest names in sport and entertainment into their designer underwear, I’m sure everyone remembers the David Beckham campaign well enough. We’re not all superstars that have cash to splash on fancy cars and tailored designer suits, but everyone enjoys a little luxury now and then. There is the empowering sensation of exclusivity when you step out of a limousine and everyone stops and stares at you, it’s a feeling some of us experience very rarely so we cut corners on our finances where we can but still enjoy a few little luxuries to keep us feeling good about ourselves.

We could go on about the psychological influences shopping has on us forever but let’s get back to the subject at hand eh?

Names like Dolce & Gabbana, Emporio Armani and Diesel spring to mind when I think of “designer” brand underwear. But possibly one of the most successful labels to date has to be Calvin Klein. All have very comparable underwear on sale in the 20 – 60 dollar price range so what is it that makes us buy one over the other?

Jockey Vs Calvin Klein Underwear

I purchased a pair of Calvin Klein Pro Stretch briefs in white with the red waistband for $49.95 AUD and a pair of Jockey briefs that look remarkably similar to the CK’s at first glance (and probably would be mistaken for CK’s at a distance). The Jockey pair cost $19.95 AUD so immediately you have to consider the Jockey brief seems better value for money. Both the Pro stretch and Jockey briefs have the size and care instructions printed on to avoid scratchy tags irritating your skin, but I did find that you can see the care instructions through the rear of the Jockey briefs when wearing them so this detracted from the appearance of the brief. This wouldn’t be an issue if you purchased them in black (which was also practically a carbon copy in appearance to the CK pro stretch black brief complete with red waistband). The jockey logo is not bold on the waistband, the CK logo stands out more but this is negligible in regards to the extra twenty dollars for the privilege of the name.

Now lets talk about the fit and overall comfort, this is where the divisions start to really show. The Jockey brief is lined in the front but the material (while cotton) is heavier than the CK brief. This is fine to begin with, as the material is soft and has a reasonable amount of stretch. But if you live in a warm climate (or work in one) it becomes a nightmare after a couple of hours as the material does not breathe and allow your body temperature to regulate properly and you find yourself constantly adjusting them in the crotch. While the CK brief is also lined the material is quite airy. Admittedly first time out the box the material felt quite stiff, but after a wash they are quite soft, have high stretch and feel remarkably well constructed contouring to your body without riding up in the back. Materials do make a difference but the cut of the material and attention to the amount of room in the front p0uch to hold you in place without cramping or overheating your important bits really does show that CK might be more expensive and considered a luxury brand BUT they don’t skimp on quality. You are well advised to pay out the extra money if not for fashion but for functionality and comfort. Now I certainly don’t discard the Jockey brief as being no good, it sure has some positives but it makes a perfect comparison for the purpose of this review.

One important point though, while I would suggest to buy the Calvin Klein Pro Stretch due to it being a very comfortable, masculine brief that can withstand a bit of rough treatment. That is not to say the rule of thumb is “price equals quality”. There are many brands and styles available to suit anyone’s taste and budget that work just as well (and in many cases better) than their Boutique brother brands. There have been Emporio Armani styles that I have tested that retail for in excess of $80 AUD and found them to be an incredible let down both in construction, appearance and endurance so it does pay to research before you buy!

Breaking it down for you, here are the results for the two briefs:

Jockey Brief : Comfort 6-10 (overheat in heavy fabric and problems with riding up)

Appearance 8-10 Nice looking brief, not quite on the money in shape as the CK but still good

Cost 8.5 Good price for a mid range brief.

Verdict Perhaps it’s unfair to put this up against Calvin Klein but it shows there is more to a brief than it’s name. In this case they only lost points in a few area’s but one of those was crucial. Comfort is essential and would be improved if you cut the lining out of these briefs, and doctors constantly advise men to avoid overheating their genitals if they wish to maximize their chances of conception so not only is it uncomfortable to become itchy from excessive heat it could also be a health consideration. Overall a nice brief but not overwhelming for the price. 7.5 out of 10.

Calvin Klein Pro Stretch

Comfort : 9-10 Very comfortable and well designed. The absence of tags is a great inclusion. Nicely shaped to flatter your body and oozes style, simplicity and looks really great with a pair of faded low rise jeans. Constructed of cotton and lycra these briefs retain shape wash after wash and the form fitting design makes them practical for work and play.

Appearance : Masculine design, but very sexy. These briefs wont go out of style, you are more likely to wear them out before that ever happens! They are pretty tough too, I did see an unfortunate instance where two guys ripped a pair of these briefs off a friend at a Football Club function (I will state he had pants on so it could have been a lot more embarrassing for the poor guy) but I can attest that between two guys holding either side of the waistband and him hanging helplessly trying to escape it took several attempts to completely rip them off him so I was impressed by the toughness and force it took to rip them. Ah but that’s what happens when alcohol and sport collide

Cost: shop around, you can pick these up online at stores for around thirty dollars if you’re thrifty which is a bargain. But I don’t regret paying full retail for them as they have become one of my favorite everyday pairs to wear. Which is quite a rap considering the range of brands and styles I have hidden away in the bedside drawer.

Overall: Clearly it’s a winner both in style, and design. It feels great on, and if I ever had to jump out a window with my clothes in my arm’s and run down the street in the middle of the night there’s only one pair of underwear I’d want to be seen streaking away in! Looks equally stunning in black, and yes you can get these in boxerbrief, jockstrap and g string (thong) back so there’s a style to suit all preferences. This one gets a 10 out of 10.
Okay, it’s not your typical everyday wear. But we’ve all been invited (at some point) to a party that is fancy dress. And you’re not about to turn up wearing the birdman g banger are you? So thankfully the people behind the designs at Candyman have a product range that can (in some styles) literally come to the rescue! I guarantee nobody does a police uniform quite like they do. The set comes in shiny blue boxer briefs emblazoned with a mock police badge and handcuffs, Candyman are not afraid to push the boundaries while having fun with fabrics, colors and some tongue in cheek humor thrown in for good measure.

But it would be a huge disservice to write them off as purely adult entertainment that you only need look for if you want something a bit saucy to wear to a party or as a birthday surprise for your partner (although it is great for both those applications). They do provide some very practical alternative underwear for men who are looking for something different, and some of the new season styles are quite masculine in their design so you have to feel guilty wearing them under your pants to the office or under your jeans. The materials range from outrageously loud metallic reds, blues, even pinks through to modest grays and blacks in matte fabrics. Exotic designs that might push you outside your comfort zone but he who dares wins (or however that proverb goes!)

Now I wouldn’t say this range is for everyone, and I’m pretty sure you’d find some guys would rather run naked down a busy street than dress up in ‘costumes’ which is fine, I’d say I’ve got a fairly adventurous spirit but there are definitely designs in their 2011 range I would need a lot of convincing (and probably cash bribes) to put on but that’s just me. I think if the vibe was right (and obviously the weather) I would get a buzz turning up to a party dressed in a Candyman Cowboy costume, I’m pretty sure my friends would get a great laugh but you might prefer to keep your westerns to the bedroom saloon if you know what I mean?

It would be easy for some people to knock this brand because it’s unashamedly loud, confronting and extroverted. But personally I applaud Candyman for being different, not playing it safe and providing some fun functional underwear that is bound to reach a huge audience of enthusiasts. I can only imagine what this brand has done for adult swinger parties…. But I won’t dwell on that.

SO on to the Candyman review:

I tried out one of last season’s styles and was surprised by the comfort, the sizing was accurate to the description and it wasn’t scratchy or poorly made. I admit I was prepared to compare their products to the cheap nasty novelties you find in adult stores but was pleasantly surprised.

I bought a pair of briefs with a sparkling sheen to the fabric, black pouch and a zebra like pattern on the rest of the garment. The elasticity is good in both the material and leg openings, and the material is light and soft to the touch. After several washes they still retain their sparkle and this includes being put through a standard washing machine in a normal load of clothing and have even gone through the clothes dryer once. No concerns of losing it’s shape or the stitching unraveling which is terrific given the fact that these styles demand partying (and who am I to argue?)

In summation I have to point out the obvious, the brand is probably marketed to a demographic and probably makes most of it’s sales based on that, but don’t be put off by some of the more erotic styles if you are looking for something new for your underwear drawer look further into their collections. There is something for everyone, from sheer panels to strappy thongs, sultry costumes to sexy briefs you can find something that suits your budget and desires.

If you’re still sitting on the fence my advice is to jump in and explore their catalog online and if you have a special someone maybe get them to browse with you and you can both discuss what fun you could have, you never know… It might just be the best fun you have with your pants on? Rating this pair an 8.5 out of ten, but giving the brand a 10 for offering something unique and (yes I’m going to say it once more FUN!)

Andrew Christian Flashback!!!

We’ve all been guilty at some stage of envy, whether it be physical or material. You hear people say things like “I wish I had a body like that” and often we are guilty of comparing ourselves to the images we see on television and through the media. Often, these images are unrealistic and for most of us, unattainable. Not to mention, they’ve been faking it for years by using body doubles for those perfect curves and nude scenes so it’s no surprise that we develop insecurities about how we look The truth is, we’re not all made equal. Genetics is a fascinating subject but let’s not get caught up in all that scientific stuff. Let’s just say, some people need a little help. And thanks to shape enhancement technologies coming on in leaps and bounds we all have the opportunity to make the best of what we do or “don’t” have.

Personally, I used to suffer what you’d call “a flat butt”. Now while exercise and diet have helped me leave those days behind (pardon the pun) I still think back to how embarrassing it was when someone remarked about my lack of glutes. Well for those of us who do suffer this ailment all is not lost, there is a wide variety of options on the market now to help ease our body conscious minds. Market revolutionary Spanx took care of those extra inches women wanted to hide, and they have been so popular they have released a range for men.

Andrew Christian have jumped on the bandwagon with their range of stomach flattening briefs/boxers for men wanting to hide some of those extra pounds. I must say at this point, I am sick and tired of seeing photos of models with perfect physiques being used to market slimming wear (for men or women). How is anyone supposed to figure out how effective these garments are when the person wearing them has a wash board stomach or perfect thighs? Okay, putting that gripe aside I will now get to the point of this review so let’s get on with it shall we?

Andrew Christian Flashback Boxer brief

Okay, we’ve discussed a few things relating to shape wear. Yes there is a huge variety for both men and women on the market and no doubt we will discuss the slimming wear styles in future, but today we focus on the “have not’s” as I will call it. For those of us who feel we need a bit of help in filling out our jeans Andrew Christian set about delivering a range that would add inches to our measurements.

How does it work?

A couple of options here, you can get padded butt boxers or briefs, which will certainly make sitting on park benches more comfortable but I wouldn’t like to be caught with my pants down while wearing these as it’s pretty obvious and not that attractive. Andrew Christian decided to incorporate an elastic strap sewn into the rear of their boxers/briefs to lift and enhance without the need for the embarrassing pads. It works well, and at worst it may appear that you’re wearing a jockstrap beneath your underwear if anybody should happen to notice the lines (only in the white pairs, the black does not give the appearance of the elastic away as much). The lift is immediately noticeable when you pull a pair on you can feel it lift your buttocks and it does give them a more rounder, natural look. But in fairness, the amount of difference you notice does depend on how much you have back there to begin with so don’t have expectations of massive results.

The Flashback fit

Already touched on this, the butt lifting technology was good but they had overlooked a vital point when they made these briefs/boxers. The room for your goods up front is ridiculously small. While all the attention going to the back is fantastic it’s detracted massively by the lack of space or stretch in the material at the front leaving you feel about as anatomically equipped as a Ken doll. I’m sure they addressed this issue when they finally released the next generation which included enhancements in both the front and back but I can’t comment as yet because I haven’t tried them.

The Flashback Appearance

White with red stitching, the Andrew Christian logo on the waistband, simple, elegant, nothing too flashy this will appeal to a lot of guys. You can get these in black also, and different leg lengths (for boxerbriefs). Low cut waist, and has the AC “anti-muffin” top which basically means the waistband should not dig into you causing the stomach to hang over them.

Are they any good?

The price is right, the quality is good. They hold up well over months of wear and washing. Visually they’re basic but aesthetically pleasing (If not a bit limited in color choice). The lift you get when you pull these on is noticeable and they are comfortable enough to wear all day, however as I said before they could’ve allowed room for your other important bits In the front.

Any Flashback Variations?

Calvin Klein brought out a very similar range, however they’re more expensive and you don’t get anything more from CK than their famous label on the waistband. Surf the net and you’re bound to find plenty of other options it really depends on your personal taste and what you want out of the garment. You can try N2N, CIN2, 2xist or a number of other brands for front enhancement or go for the later range from AC that includes horseshoe style lifting technology in the front or padded cups which even includes the first anatomically moulded cup that replicates the appearance of a man’s penis in the front of the brief. So far as butt enhancement you decide between straps or pads but in the end if you want that perfect bubble butt there’s no substitute for gym sessions and squats I’m sorry to say!

The Flashback Verdict:

Basically a recap, does it work? Yes, to varying degrees dependant on how much junk is in your trunk to begin with! It washes and wears very well, shame about that pesky front pouch being so small. Sizing runs small on this model and because it is low rise you should buy one size bigger than you’d normally purchase. Solid, well constructed boxerbrief and bound to trick a few people into thinking you’ve gained some serious ass overnight but there are possibly better options out there, I just haven’t found one as yet! Would like to say better things as other AC underwear I have are terrific but this one just missed the mark slightly in a few areas. Giving the Andrew Christian Flashback a 7.5 out of ten.

The crotch is flattening, the backside is daggy and makes you look like you’re smuggling unmentionable things, the fabric is usually cotton and the color (although once white) is now turning a dull gray from rewashing. Oh yes, I’m sure you can relate but that’s okay, it can be our little secret.

Let’s face it, there is nothing that kills passion faster than your prospective bedmate whipping their skirt off to reveal her granny panties so why would she get her groove on for you when you’re wearing your “grundies”? A fair question. And thankfully Joe Snyder understood this and to date, they’ve never released a pair of underwear that comes close to those nightmarish things described above. Far from it! It would seem they took everything that was boring about men’s underwear and applied the opposite principle to anything they made and you won’t feel ashamed to drop your pants next time opportunity knocks when you’re wearing these beauties. I road tested the full backed bikini in both white and dark blue and here’s what I learned.

Joe Snyder Construction:

80% nylon 20% lycra. Good amount of stretch. Front panel is unlined and the white pair I bought left little to the imagination, the material ensures the garment accentuates the outline of your manhood. It does become sheer wet but the darker colors are safe for use on public beaches without the fear of becoming exposed when wet. The true genius of these bikini’s is that they are comfortable enough to wear under jeans as everyday wear but equally as useful as a swim costume or posing suit. The front pouch lifts and enhances the look of your bulge and the sides are less than an inch thick so I have used mine many times to sun bake in. The rear seat in this bikini is full coverage but they offer a wide variety of styles ranging from rio (otherwise known as ¾ back bikini’s) to thong backs for maximum exposure. Super light weight and the fabric dries quickly.

The Joe Snyder Fit:

The flexibility of the fabric gives some room for movement and the sizing guide is accurate. Personally I would have taken a size small when I purchased these pairs, but due to my exercise regime I am now a medium yet I can still fit into them. Confidently buy in the sizing you normally take when buying this brand. Tags may seem scratchy but are easily removed if necessary.

The Joe Snyder Price:

About average for what you’d expect to pay for a quality product. The finish on the garment is excellent with no loose threads or apparent defects. They hold shape and retain vibrancy of color if care instructions are followed. But you definitely want to make sure you rinse them after swimming to remove excess chlorine.

Our Joe Snyder Verdict:

You’re truly spoiled for choice in both color and design when you choose Joe Snyder. It would be fair to say it won’t appeal to all men. But it is a wonderful alternative to regular speedo swimsuits. Planning a romantic holiday to somewhere tropical? This would be an essential item for my suitcase due to it’s visual appeal, quick drying properties and versatility as both an everyday bikini and swimsuit in one! If I had to find one fault with this bikini or brand for that matter, it would be the fact it’s not marketed with a mainstream option to appeal to the man’s man. But I think perhaps it’s better just the way it is. Naughty but oh so nice! 9 out of 10. Bright colors and cheeky designs make this FUNderwear fun-to-wear! Get into some JS today!

Fashion designers come and go, some capture our imagination with their flare and innovation while others seemingly follow the herd releasing “safe” generic designs. Fortunately for the more daring and adventurous shoppers the Pikante brand resists the trend of generic fabrics and cuts that flood the market. So if you’d rather play it safe in your tight whiteys this probably isn’t the brand for you!

Personally I’m not a fan of animal prints, so some of the pieces are a bit too feminine for my liking but some of the plain colored items are just stunning in the silky shimmering nylon fabrics. Pikantes releases for 2011 include camouflage prints and look quite masculine and sexy from what I’ve seen so far. After purchasing two pairs similar to the matrix bikinis now on sale my first impression out of the post satchel was that the items, while light and silky, feel well constructed and finished with no loose threads. The material reflects the light and looks quite attractive on, but it isn’t as soft as I’d imagined. To the informed buyer I would have likened them to the HOM micro 2 collection by appearance, but it is far from the same quality as the HOM micro collection where it comes to feel.

Having said that, I wouldn’t consider this a major flaw, as one of my major criticisms of the HOM collection mentioned was the delicate nature of the garment. They looked and felt great, but damaged easily. Not so with the Pikante bikini, it has withstood normal cycles through the washing machine and (admittedly) the dryer. I wouldn’t recommend long term abuse of them in this fashion as they will eventually suffer if not handled with care and you could be left with a very out of shape garment.

Sizing is on the smaller side so if you straddle two sizes you really need to go for the larger size to avoid disappointment, they are a neat fit and the leg openings will cut into you if they’re too tight. I can’t help but be impressed by the design of these bikinis. The pouch is contoured to enhance your bulge, the rear is full seated but the pair is quite low cut, so they are great for wearing under low rise jeans and just as enticing when it comes time to impress your date. They may be too low for some peoples taste but if you’ve got a wild side let it loose in these babies and you’ll be sure to make an impression!

There is a label on the front which seems to be made from plastic with the brand name on it, which you can notice against your skin when you wear them, so I removed them from my pairs and that improved the comfort factor somewhat.

Let’s face it, you wouldn’t probably buy something like this for your everyday wear, but based on the range available and the marketing slogan “spicy underwear” I doubt they had that in mind when they put this collection together anyhow!

Your partner might appreciate being wooed in the bedroom, as often the dressing up is left to the ladies where lingerie is concerned. But you won’t feel like a complete moron pulling these on (unlike the novelty thongs with plastic bobble eyes flooding ebay these days). After all, don’t men deserve to feel sexy too? Pikante underwear is sophisticated, and designed for practical wear. I’d really love to try some of the thongs to see how comfortable they hold up after buying these bikinis. They surprised me in quite a lot in terms of durability, design and variety of colors available.

If you want pure luxury I would recommend you try and find either the HOM chic range (if still on sale) or the HOM micro 2 range which is still for my mind, the best designs I’ve tried in men’s sensual underwear both in terms of materials, design and visual impact.

So the verdict is a good one, the pricing is about the only area I’d question, but with so little else to compare it too on the market I would say it’s not ridiculously priced unlike Grigio Perla men’s underwear which seems to be a brand marketing underwear for the wealthy or the financially stupid with some pairs in excess of one hundred dollars?!?!?!

The garments feel and look great, I did not need to hand wash either pair, but would still recommend this for longevity. The tag on the front is a little annoying but this is a very small criticism as overall the bikini fit, wore and lasted incredibly well. Often I buy a pair of underwear from a new brand I haven’t experienced before and immediately dismiss buying from them again based on the poor performance of the product but apart from a couple of very small niggles I was very happy with them.

Perfect for that surprise strip tease, or to wear secretly under your work pants or jeans, the pikante matrix bikini is original, sexy and daring. The question is… Do you dare???

8.5 out of ten overall. Only gripe is the material isn’t “quite” as luxurious as expected. A great buy for enthusiasts or perhaps a surprise for your partner.

The first thing that caught my eye was the striking white waistband with the brand contrasting in bright red, the blue modal fabric was incredibly soft and form hugging and the front pouch was generously proportioned, a factor overlooked in some other releases from Andrew Christian. This brief actually lived up to the hype, with claims such as “second skin” and “next to nothing” thrown about carelessly by many m<img class="alignright size-large wp-image-749" title="Andrew <a href=" src="http://www.underwear-addict.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Almost-Nude-1024x1024.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" />manufacturers this was one of the first to deliver on the promise!

Sizing is accurate, and due to the superior stretch of the modal fabric, hugs your body without riding up or feeling restrictive. It really is quite a well constructed brief which feels supportive and enhances your natural anatomy by it’s clever design without the need of cups, padding or inbuilt c-rings to achieve that enhanced look. While the lift and prominence is subtle it adds to the appeal of this item.

Durability – Well I can only attest to the pair I have and in saying that I have worn and washed this pair many times. They have retained shape and color very well. So I would think they have quite a lot of life left in them. They look great under low rise jeans, and as the name suggests, you could be forgiven at times for forgetting that you are wearing anything at all. Modern, masculine design available in white, black and a cobalt blue color, with full rear seat.

Price – there are a great number of designer brands flooding the market which don’t come close to this brief. Comparable to what you’d expect to pay for a pair of CK’s, but with a whole lot more bang for your buck. Look out for some great deals offered by Andrew Christian via email, visit their official site and sign up to their mailing list for these deals.

Overall I rate this brief a 9 out of 10. It would score ten if it was readily available in retail outlets for convenience but apart from that I could not find a factor I did not like about this pair. Andrew Christian have developed a great brief that is suitable for everyday wear, possibly not supportive enough for working-out at the gym but perfect for everything else.

If only AC applied this formula to all their underwear designs.

The Underwear Addict – Thanks to Brodie!
